The most important terms at a glance
- Slinger: the person who attaches the lifting gear to the load and hook on the construction site
- Lifting gear: Suspension gear for connecting the load to the load hook
- Projection: Distance between the center of the slewing ring (crane) to the center of the load.
- Slewing ring: establishes the connection between the superstructure and undercarriage on the crane.
- Hooks: load hooks, hooks on ropes or chain slings
- Flyjib: Boom extension
- Crane operator: refers to the driver and operator of the crane in use.
- Load / lifting goods: the element to be moved / lifted
- Road closure: required for the use of public traffic areas (for installation and work)
- Support pressure: the support of the crane vehicles causes considerable forces to be applied to the ground – this results in high pressure on the ground. It is essential to check the ground conditions!
- Support plates: plates are placed under the supports to distribute the pressure into the ground.
- Load capacity tables: Listing for the corresponding crane type – this determines which loads can be lifted at which distance
